Terms of Service
Effective date: May 28, 2026
These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of Short Bytes, including our website, editor, processing services, optional social publishing features, and your rights under applicable data protection law.
1. Acceptance of terms
By accessing or using Short Bytes at shortbytes.app (the “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
2. The service
Short Bytes provides a web-based platform for editing, processing, and exporting short-form video content. Features may include timeline editing, captions, music, AI-assisted tools, background video processing, storage of project assets, and optional publishing to connected third-party social accounts.
We may add, change, or remove features at any time. Beta or experimental features may be offered without warranty and may be modified or discontinued without notice.
3. Accounts and eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction) to use the Service. If you are under 18, you may use the Service only with permission from a parent or legal guardian.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly at support@shortbytes.app if you suspect unauthorized access.
4. Your content
Ownership
You retain ownership of video, audio, images, text, and other materials you upload or create using the Service (“User Content”). We do not claim ownership of your User Content.
License to operate the Service
You grant Short Bytes a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, store, reproduce, process, transcode, and display your User Content solely as necessary to provide, maintain, and improve the Service — including rendering exports and fulfilling publish requests you initiate.
Your responsibilities
- You have all rights, licenses, and permissions needed to upload and use your User Content.
- Your User Content does not infringe any third party’s intellectual property, privacy, or other rights.
- You will not upload content that is unlawful, harmful, deceptive, or violates platform policies of destinations where you choose to publish.
6. Subscriptions and credits
Certain features require a paid subscription or consumption of credits. Pricing, plan limits, and credit rules are described on our pricing page and may change with notice where required by law.
- Payments are processed by our payment provider (currently Stripe). We do not store full payment card numbers.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date.
- Credits or usage allowances may expire according to plan terms displayed at purchase.
- Except where required by applicable law, fees are non-refundable once a billing period has started or credits have been consumed.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of applicable laws.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other accounts, or our infrastructure.
- Reverse engineer, scrape, or abuse API endpoints except as expressly permitted.
- Upload malware, spam, or content intended to harass, exploit, or harm others.
- Circumvent usage limits, billing, or security controls.
- Misrepresent your identity or affiliation when connecting social accounts or publishing content.
We may suspend or terminate access if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or pose a risk to the Service or other users.
8. Intellectual property
The Service, including software, design, branding, and documentation (excluding User Content), is owned by Short Bytes and its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any right to use our trademarks or branding except as needed to use the Service in accordance with these Terms.
9. Third-party services
The Service integrates with third-party providers including authentication (e.g. Google), cloud storage, payment processing, AI providers, and social networks. Your use of those services is subject to their terms. We are not responsible for third-party outages, policy changes, or actions taken on their platforms.
10. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free processing, specific export quality, viral performance, or successful publication on any third-party platform.
11. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SHORT BYTES AND ITS OPERATORS, AFFILIATES, AND SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) FIFTY US DOLLARS (USD $50).
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.
12. Personal data and GDPR
Short Bytes processes personal data as described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of your agreement with us and explains our legal bases, retention periods, international transfers, and your rights under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and equivalent laws.
- By using the Service, you acknowledge that we will process personal data necessary to perform our contract with you.
- Optional features (such as connecting social accounts) rely on your consent, which you may withdraw at any time.
- You may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or object to certain processing as set out in the Privacy Policy.
- To exercise your rights or request account deletion, contact contact@shortbytes.app or support@shortbytes.app.
If you are a consumer in the European Union, nothing in these Terms limits mandatory rights you have under applicable consumer protection or data protection law.
13. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or to protect the Service. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends. Provisions that by their nature should survive (including ownership, disclaimers, and limitations of liability) will survive.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated Terms on this page and update the effective date. Continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
Last updated: May 28, 2026.

5. Social media publishing
The Service may allow you to connect third-party accounts (such as YouTube, TikTok, or Instagram) and publish processed videos to those platforms at your direction.
Your use of third-party platforms is also governed by their respective terms and policies.
